LIBRARIES IN LEEDS |

Leeds
has 56 libraries. From centrally-based information centres,
to rural lifelines. Most libraries offer a wide range
of resources, ranging from microfilm to internet cafes.
You need to be resident to join but membership is free
to both adults and children and gives you access to a
wide range of services and stock including more than a
million books and over 450 public computers.
The days of the simple cardboard library ticket are long
gone and now you’ll receive a swipe card along with
a unique PIN number for security purposes.
Of course, you’ll need proof of your address and
Leeds libraries accept a wide range of ID including driving
licence, utility bill, bank and building society statements.
Children under 16 are not required to provide a proof
of address or ID but must have a guarantor who is required
to provide proof unless they are already a member.
Once you’ve got your library card and signed the
back you can borrow up to 20 items at once. All book loans
are for three weeks. DVDs, CDs and videos are also available
to hire in some libraries and for these weekly charges
apply. If you can’t find what you want you can always
order an item for a small charge.
Once you have your Leeds library card you can access all
of the libraries in Leeds, including some services in
other areas of West Yorkshire.
